Born and raised in California, Mitch FitzDaniel has been singing as long as he's been speaking. After brief forays into pop and choir, he found his calling in the opera world. At Occidental College he trained under Alma Marie Ponce and Jeffery Bernstein. In 2010, he moved East to Boston.

Though his career in Boston began as a singing waiter, he has fully entered the East Coast music scene. In May of 2017 he received his Master of Music from Boston University, where he was featured as the Baritone in the BU Opera Institute’s production of Philip Glass’ Hydrogen Jukebox and sang various comprimario roles in the ’15-’16 and ’16-’17 seasons.

Mr. FitzDaniel is also an enthusiastic advocate and interpreter of contemporary American art song, having sung for both the New Music on the Point Festival in Vermont in 2016 and the Fall Island Vocal Arts Seminar with Stephanie Blythe in 2017. In addition to singing for the Boston Art Song Society, he is also on the roster of artists for the Boston Opera Collaborative. He has been an artist in residence at Pittsburgh Festival Opera (where he premiered the stage versions of two of Mister Rogers’ operas), and has performed with MassOpera, Odyssey Opera, and Boston Lyric Opera.

Mr. FitzDaniel currently resides in Boston with his wife and dog, and he studies under James Demler.
